Residential Load Calculations
Detailed course on load design for residential buildings using the
ACCA Manual J, 8th edition, abridged version. Emphasis on heat loss and heat
gain calculations, equipment sizing and selection, balance point,
air distribution and operating cost. Recommended for anyone
involved in the heating and cooling industry. ACCA
certification granted upon successful completion of this course.
Residential Duct Design
Detailed instruction on duct design for residential heating and air
conditioning equipment using the ACCA Manual D. Instruction
also includes register selection and location for better temperature
control. Student will design actual duct systems and will
learn to use all associated equipment. This course is highly
recommended for heating and air conditioning contractors in the
residential market. ACCA certification granted upon successful
completion of this course.

Nate Core Training
This
course is designed to prepare the participant to successfully
complete the Core portion of the NATE Service Technician
Certification. It covers the knowledge elements that are included in
the NATE Core exam. Included are: basic electricity, meters,
electrical components, series and parallel circuits, basic math
calculations, as well as some safety skills. All candidates must
pass the Core portion of the exam as well as at least one Specialty
exam in order to become certified.
NATE Specialty Training
Heat Pump Training
This course is designed to prepare the participant to successfully
complete the Heat Pump portion of the NATE Service Technician
Certification. It covers the knowledge elements that are included in
the Heat Pump Exam. Included are: heat pump refrigeration cycle,
component operation, sequence of operation, installation procedures,
troubleshooting techniques, and wiring diagrams.
The
NATE (North American Technician Excellence) Exam certifies
installation and/or service technicians. There are two parts to
either an installation or service test that you must pass with a
score of 70 or better in order to become certified: the CORE exam of
50 questions and a SPECIALTY exam of 100 questions. Specialties
include Air Conditioning, Heat Pump, Air Distribution, Oil Heat and
Gas Heat.
The SPHPA offers the NATE Core Training and the NATE Heat Pump
Specialty Training. These courses are offered at various locations
within the Tennessee Valley area.
